Trefoil Guild Chairman
The Trefoil Guild Chairman is:
Appointed for an initial term of three years and may be reappointed for a further period of up to two years; this is not automatic and the usual term of appointment is three years.
Functions can include:
- Leading the Trefoil Guild in the County by chairing the County Executive meeting, appointing members of the County Team and coordinating County events.
- Taking an interest in Guild activities around the County by supporting and encouraging Guild Chairmen, responding to invitations from Guilds, getting to know Guild members, encouraging Guilds to share some activities with other Guilds.
- Fostering links with Girlguiding UK, having a good working relationship with the County Commissioner, facilitating help from Trefoil Guild members for units, Districts, Divisions and the County, attending the Guide County Executive meeting and providing a report to the County Commissioner as required
- Being a member of the Region Team and attending Region Executive meetings, supporting Region Chair and contributing to decision making at Region meetings, taking County Guild's ideas to Region level, passing information and decisions back to Guilds, providing explanations when required. Please note that Region meetings are generally held during the day.
- Communicating effectively, making sure information reaches all members in the County, arranging County Executive meetings to follow soon after the Region meetings but preferably no sooner than two weeks to allow Region minutes to be circulated and providing written details of factual information.
- Encouraging Leaders and Commissioners to become associate members, retiring Leaders to become full members, formation of new Guilds, members to participate in Country/Region and National and International events, members to be forward looking and actively promote the modern image of the Trefoil Guild ,
The Trefoil Guild Chairman should:
Be in sympathy with the aims and principles of The Guide Association
Be a good communicator. Be a good listener. Be enthusiastic.
Be confident. Have tact, diplomacy and flexibility. Have a sense of humour.
Although not essential, it would be advantageous if the Trefoil Guild Chairman were able to drive and be able to use a computer and email.
