Jack Petchey Award News

Last November saw us able to only award 9 girls with a certificate and £250 to spend on their unit because of the unusal circumstances we find ourselves in with this pandemic.  We are though, intending to run a round this spring with a closing date of 28th February 2021.  All nomination paperwork must be received at the county office by this date.  We are hopeful that amongst the girls and leaders in the 11 to 25 year old age range, who have continued to take part in guiding activities, there are some who you think are deserving to be recognised .  The 11 to 17 age range for work within their community as well as guiding participation/enthusiasm over the lockdown period.  The 18 to 25 year olds for working to keep their units in touch and functioning, for community work – maybe they are out helping to shop for vulnerable people, delivering medicine or perhaps they are keyworkers continuing to support us all.

We would also like to be able to put forward 2 leaders to the JPF.  The leaders award is designed to recognise the efforts of those ‘who go the extra mile’ to support the young people within our organisation.  So, this will be the adult who has worked tirelessly to keep contact with her girls and to keep guiding functioning in her unit.  Please use the leader nomination form for this.

We must stress that the JPF work with the 11 to 25-year age range and therefore it is only members/leaders of guide and ranger units who can be nominated for these awards.

All completed nomination forms should be sent to the County office by Sunday 28th February 2021.
