What do brownies do?

Brownies have fun! They take part in indoor and outdoor activities that challenge them to do their best. Their meetings are action-packed and full of challenges, games and activities, usually ones that the Brownies have suggested themselves. Everything a Brownie does is an adventure - it's a world of excitement, new interests and friends.

Brownies belong to a Pack and work in small groups called Sixes. This gives each girl a group of ready-made friends to take care of her. It also makes her feel that she belongs to something special.

Brownies meet regularly, usually once a week during school terms. There are often opportunities for Brownies to take part in special activities and events throughout the year. Many Brownie Packs go away on holiday, to camp or on an overnight sleepover.

Who can be a Brownie?

Brownies are usually aged between seven and ten, although some Brownies stay in the unit until they are a little bit older. Any girl over the age of seven can become a Brownie as long as she is able to understand, and wants to make, the Brownie Guide Promise.

Brownie wear

Each Brownie chooses what she wants to wear from a range of items - it is up to each girl to decide which items she likes. This choice allows Brownies to be themselves but also makes them feel part of the Pack.

Brownies with their leaders can go to this fun packed super-duper weekend at Butlins at Skegness. Ask your Guider for details. There are lots of amazing activities, dancing, swimming, games and shows all run by the staff at Butlins.

17th JULY 2010 - WOW100

This is the main celebration day for the Girguiding Centenary in Essex North East. It is for all our members including, Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and all our adult leaders. We are trying to provide you with a 'Jamboree in a Day' experience and have lots of activities planned. So if you like dance, music, craft, adventurous activities, circus skills, and a great big party, then this is for YOU. You will travel with other members from your area in a coach or bus and there will be something going on all day. Don't miss this. It is going to be an amazing day.
