Presenters Profile
Wondered who you are listening to every month on the GENE show? Here is a little about each of us and a chance to put a face to a name.
My name is Maxine and I am GENE Media Coordinator and Public Relations Adviser for Girlguiding Essex North East. I am also a “floating” leader for Moulsham District, that means I fill in and help out whenever needed! I have been involved in Guiding for nearly 10 years. My first show on GENE was in September 2009, the day after the Centenary Launch…that was an exhausting weekend! I am an avid Doctor Who and Torchwood fan, I have been known to travel all the way to Cardiff in search of John Barrowman! (should I really admit that? LOL!). I love my Guiding roles, Guiding has given me so many opportunities to meet people and do activities, it even influenced a major career change!
Hi my name is Bushra and I am a Ranger at Bradwell 1st Juxta-Mare Power Rangers and assist at 1st Burnham Brownies. My family have always had a huge role of guiding and we were actually moaned at once when I was tiny because when somebody recorded there little Brownie daughter getting enrolled all you could hear in the background is me suckling away!! I went through all the proper line: Rainbow to Brownie and then moved country and became a Brownie in the middle east but then returned as a Brownie in England (again). Next I moved on to be a Guide and assisted at the Brownies and soon was a Ranger living it up at camp, Jambo and loads of other events with my friends including a trip to the world Guiding centre in India, Sangam where I participated in some charity activities with the local girls! It was announced at my BP that there would be a Girl Guiding Radio Show at the station where I was already involved so I leapt at the chance and have been a GENE presenter since the first show, April 2009!! As for me: I am a total wolf fanatic and my biggest fear is GEESE!! They are evil creatures I swear with their white feathers and serrated beaks...
Hi! :) My name is Emily and I am a Ranger at Zodiac Rangers and a Young Leader at 1st Writtle Guides. I have been in Guiding since I was 8 years old in Brownies and have then gone from Guides to Rangers. During this time I have done community work in Malaysia and attended the World Jamboree in 2007 as well which was absolutely amazing! My first show on GENE was December 2009 and thought it was such a laugh! I would one day like to climb Kilimanjaro. Don't know why, just sort of fancy it and I love Marmite :)

Hi my name is Marie. I am a member of Writtle Zodiac Rangers, 2nd Writtle Rainbows Leader (in Training). I have been a member of Scout Radio for 3 years. I am now a Broadcasting Student at Thames Valley University (which is thanks to being involved in both of these projects). My name is on the Casini satellite orbiting Saturn and the longest time I have been on radio (tech operating/producing and being live on air) was 14 hours non-stop.
My name is Emma and I have been involved with guiding for eight years, I began as a Brownie, then a Guide and now as a young leader at 7th Witham Guides, a Ranger and an Essex In4mer. My first GENE show was on the 1st November 2009. I love elephants and shopping, particularly for shoes!! (Of course!!)
Hi :) I'm Hannah and I'm a Guide at 1st Writtle Guides. I've been a girlguide since I was a little Brownie, then I became a guide and I hope to become a ranger or young leader. During my guiding years, I've celebrated the Centenary Year and seen many acts at BIG GIG. My first GENE show was in December 2010 as a guest presenter with my guide friend, Hazel. But my first show as a GENE member was in January 2011. I love listening to music and have an obsession with The Midnight Beast. I also play netball for Chelmsford. :)
