Earls Colne District

Let me introduce you to our village of Earls Colne.
We have one Rainbow pack and one Brownie pack in our district.
Our Rainbow unit is held on Wednesday evenings between 4.45 and 6pm. Our activities include games , craft, singing and generally having fun. This is a really nice way to progress up to Brownies. Some of our evenings we integrate with Brownies, making the transition much easier for the Rainbows.
Brownies are held on a Monday evening between 5.30pm and 7pm. Our activities are similar to Rainbows but a bit more advanced. We go out on walks during the summer, we have lots of craft activities for all those budding designers out there. We cook and play games. We also dedicate some of our evenings working towards our badges. One of our recent projects was to design and make an outfit out of recycling materials and then put on a fashion show for the parents. The Brownies (and helpers) had so much fun doing this!
Our Village
Earls Colne has a bustling High Street, where you will always bump into someone you know. We have a supermarket, fabulous butchers, pharmacy, post office and library. Along side these we have a very upmarket ladies clothing boutique, fancy dress and ball gown hire shop and a craft gift shop. A very varied selection of retailers for such a small place.
Dotted in between, there are three Public Houses and a Hotel and Wine Bar. Something for everyone, wouldn’t you agree?
For the sports lovers we have a Recreation Club with most sports available for you to get into. For the golfers we have two golf courses to choose from.
Earls Colne is situated in The Colne Valley and its surrounding countryside is beautiful.
If you enjoy the outdoor life, then here is the place for you. We are surrounded by fantastic walks and lots of country lanes for a family cycle ride. On our doorstep we have Chalkney Woods – England’s oldest recorded woodland. A must see in the spring, is the Bluebell display it gives us year after year. A truly great place for walkers young and old.
Earls Colne is neighboured by White Colne, Colne Engaine, Wakes Colne and Chappel. Each village having something to offer. Chappel and Wakes Colne are famous for the East Anglian Steam Railway Museum. They hold Thomas the Tank Engine events during the year and other attractions, including the CAMRA Beer Festival. This being one of our areas biggest events, it attracts people from all over.
Commuters to London can get on the train here at Chappel and Wakes Colne for London Liverpool Street.
