Region ASSK Chair/Vice Chair
Role:
To promote all aspects of youth participation as an integral part of Guiding at Region level and provide leadership to other ASSK role holders.
Term of Office:
- Appointed for a term of 3 years – first 18 months as Vice Chair, second 18 months as Chair.
Responsible to:
- Region Chief Commissioner, Region Executive
Works with:
- Other ASSK Role Holders, Senior Section Advisor
Personal Qualities
- Willing to support the aim and objectives of Girlguiding UK and abide by its policy and rules.
- Good overall knowledge of specialism - including keeping up to date.
- Good organisational skills - including use of email/PC's.
- Good oral and written communication.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work with information of a confidential or sensitive nature.
Responsibilities
- Promote Girlguiding generally.
- Portray a positive image of Girlguiding.
- The advancement of girls and women, with special focus on youth participation.
- Advise the Region Chief Commissioner, Region Executive, and other Committees as appropriate on the Girlguiding programme and associated activities as they relate to youth participation.
- Ensure regular reports are provided to the relevant Committees by dates specified.
- Plan, budget and control expenses in accordance with the Region's agreed format.
- Act as a focal point for other ASSK role holders by ensuring that they are kept up to date by:
- Providing advice and support
- Leading meetings
- Arranging sub-team meetings as necessary
- Ensuring business from GUK and Girlguiding Anglia, including Executive and other meetings, is passed on. - Represent Girlguiding Anglia at national meetings and on initiatives as required.
- Be enabling and encouraging in relation to youth participation within guiding.
- Develop personally within your specialism and within guiding.
- Provide opportunities for the development of other ASSK role holders.
- Be responsible for ensuring a named event co-coordinator is appointed for every event organised at Regional level, liaising with the appropriate Advisers as necessary.
- Provide regular information updates for the Girlguiding Anglia website and e-newsletters.
- Work with the ASSK Chair/Vice Chair to organise ASSK meetings (twice yearly).
- Be proactive and take forward suggestions made through ASSK events and initiatives, working with other advisors and commissioners where appropriate.
