Girlguiding Essex North East

SEAXE Magazine Editor

The Editor is part of the PR/Marketing/Media Team and will be required to attend three or four meetings annually, chaired by the County PR Adviser. This is quite important as the Editor is an integral part of the external perception of Girlguiding within Essex North East.

An appreciation of Girlguiding UK corporate styles and colour themes is required when putting SEAXE together. Information on this is available from GUK material, from the County PR Adviser and other sources.

Liaison with Commissioners, Advisers and unit teams is essential to encourage content submissions on an ongoing basis and within the necessary deadlines set by the Editor for each magazine.

SEAXE is published three times each year – Spring, Summer and Winter. Dates of publication should be agreed with the County PR Adviser and the County Commissioner. Consideration should also be given to the dates of County Trefoil meetings, as their distribution is dependent upon the handover of magazines on these occasions.

Assistance may be required by the County PR Adviser with the preparation and production of the Annual Review publication e.g. the provision of material and photographs that have been used during the year within SEAXE in order to give an overview of the year.

The Editor will, if necessary, be provided with the appropriate software for the purpose of preparing SEAXE for printing. All artwork, layout and design are the responsibility of the Editor and each edition must be production ready and loaded onto a disc and sent to the printer.

The following will be provided to the Editor:

  • The number of mail ready printed copies required will be supplied by
    the Membership Support Co-ordinator (MSC)
  • Mailing label information for printing from the MSC
  • Funding for the purchase of the necessary number of 2nd class stamps and labels for each edition via the County Treasurer

It is the responsibility of the Editor to ensure that SEAXE is mailed out to the membership as soon as possible after it is received from the printer.

The Editor is also responsible for ordering sufficient non-mail ready copies to pass over to the ENE Trefoil Guild, County PR Adviser, County Leadership Adviser and Anglia Region County Commissioners at the County Commissioners Forum.

NOTE: If the County Office is in existence then the responsibility for mailing/distributing SEAXE may be transferred from the Editor to the office staff. This to be considered by the County Commissioner and others she may wish to consult with at the appropriate time.

As with all roles within Girlguiding Essex North East, help, advice and guidance will be given to assist the Editor, until such time that they feel comfortable to proceed unsupported with this role.
