County Contact Person
Key Purpose
This role involves someone taking charge of the County Mobile Telephone. When a member of the public wishes to find out where their nearest unit is located or wishes to volunteer to help within a unit they will telephone this number if they haven’t got access to the internet.
The mobile telephone number is used on publicity material used within the County and is also held by Girlguiding at Headquarters in London and the Anglia Region Office.
Key responsibilities:
Answer the telephone in a polite and appropriate manner and record the details of the caller.
Details of the caller need to be communicated to the appropriate District Commissioner to enable them to make arrangements for either a new unit member to attend the local unit or for a new leader/unit helper to be introduced to a unit needing assistance.
Telephone calls if not answered immediately must be actioned within three days of receipt in order to comply with guidelines set by Girlguiding HQ. Obviously arrangements can be made during holidays and other times when the County Contact is unavailable.
If the County Contact is unavailable for any length of time it is her responsibility to arrange for someone to cover her duties and to advise the County Commissioner of those arrangements.
Additional information to note:
This role is ideal for someone who is not able to perform a County role which involves travel or additional meetings but would like to take on an extra challenge within Girlguiding.
The mobile telephone is, of course, provided and all telephone calls made on that particular telephone should only be Girlguiding Recruitment related and as such the cost will be paid by the County Treasurer.
If this type of position is of interest to you please complete an Indication of Interest form or if you know someone who may suit this role please complete a Nomination Form and forward to Bonnie Hill, County Commissioner.
