Growing Guiding Adviser
This role can be shared.
Appointed for an initial term of three years and may be reappointed for a further period of up to two years; this is not automatic and the usual term of appointment is three years.
Functions can include:
- Liase with the Region Growing Guiding Adviser.
- Explore established ways of recruiting adults to all roles within Guiding from Unit Guider to District Treasurer; from Young Leader to Badge Secretary.
- Determine possible new ways of running Units, e.g. A team of Guiders who each only have to attend 2 or 3 times a term.
- Promote different ways of recruiting to Division and District Commissioners and their teams.
- Organise suitable events to encourage new leaders.
- Prepare and put in place a strategy for welcoming adults who might express an interest in helping with Guiding in whatever capacity. This will be especially important in the Centenary year when we expect increased interest.
- Liase with the Leadership co-ordinator to ensure that the Leadership Qualification is gained as soon as practicable after recruitment.
- Liase with the County PR Adviser and relevant Division PR Advisers when planning recruitment events.
Prepare a budget for any plans made. - Report to the County Commissioner, emailing reports to her prior to each County Executive meeting.
Currently as this is a new role it will be decided a little later which County Team that this appointment holder will report in to and meetings at County level which will be attended.
Please note: No-one is expected to have all of these skills at the outset as, many of these skills and qualities will be acquired and developed throughout the appointment term.
