Growing Guiding Adviser

This role can be shared.

Appointed for an initial term of three years and may be reappointed for a further period of up to two years; this is not automatic and the usual term of appointment is three years.

Functions can include:

  • Explore new and established ways of recruiting girls and adults to guiding.
  • Prepare and put in place a strategy for welcoming adults who express an interest in helping with Guiding in whatever capacity. 
  • Determine possible new ways of running Units to ensure they meet the needs of the local area.
  • Explore ways to ensure girls are encouraged to progress through the sections.
  • Promote different ways of recruiting Division and District Commissioners.
  • Organise suitable events to encourage new leaders.
  • Liase with the Leadership co-ordinator to ensure that the Leadership Qualification is gained as soon as practicable after recruitment.
  • Liase with the County PR Adviser and relevant Division PR Advisers when planning recruitment events.
    Prepare a budget for any plans made.
  • Liase with the Region Growing Guiding Adviser.
  • Although this role will form part of the County Marketing and Communcations team, this role will report to the County Commissioner and will be expected to attend County Executive meetings and provide reports as and when required.


Please note: No-one is expected to have all of these skills at the outset as, many of these skills and qualities will be acquired and developed throughout the appointment term.
