Guiding Development Adviser

This role can be shared.

Appointed for an initial term of three years and may be reappointed for a further period of up to two years; this is not automatic and the usual term of appointment is three years.

Functions can include:

  • County Guiding Development Meetings
    Organise and Chair Guiding Development meetings three or four times a year and additional meetings if required.
    Compile and ensure Agendas are sent out, minutes taken and distributed to committee and County Commissioner.
  • County Executive Meetings
    Represent the Guiding Development committee at County Executive meetings.
  • Attendance at other meetings
    Represent Essex North East at the Anglia Region’s annual Development Meeting.
    Represent Essex North East at ECVYS (Essex County Voluntary Youth Service) AGM.
  • Reports
    Report on what the team is doing, collating information from Division Representatives, Section Advisors, Trainers, etc
    Provide a report to the County Commissioner prior to the County Executive meeting on what is happening within the County and Region.
  • Trainings
    Organise trainings in the County: Workshops, New Leaders’ evenings, Division/District trainings, liaising with District/Divisions to ensure suitable and relevant trainings are organized.
    Liaise with Training Representatives and Advisors when planning trainings and Trainers to confirm availability.
    Encourage Divisions to hold trainings and enable Division Representatives to report back to Guiding Development meetings.
  • Organise County Training Days with the Training Co-ordinator.
    Deal with paperwork for trainings.
  • County Weekends
    Plan and organise County Weekends in conjunction with the County Commissioner and Assistant County Commissioner.
  • Budget
    Be responsible for the management of the Guiding Development budget, ensuring expenditure is kept within the budget, accounts are prepared and independently checked and submission of a request for budget allocation to the County Treasurer on an annual basis when requested.
     

Please note: No-one is expected to have all of these skills at the outset as, many of these skills and qualities will be acquired and developed throughout the appointment term.
