Grants Adviser
A County Grants Adviser is:
Appointed for an initial term of three years and may be reappointed for a further period of up to two years; this is not automatic and the usual term of appointment is three years.
This role can be shared.
This role is open to Male and Female applicants.
Functions can include:
- Maintaining relationships throughout the County
- Promoting the ethos of Guiding throughout the County and any agencies outside Girlguiding that are contacted as a result of this role.
- Supporting adults, young women and girls to gain access to information that will fund projects and opportunities requiring funding.
- Supporting units and other bodies within Essex North East Girlguiding who require funding for specific projects which are reasonable and appropriate.
- Identifying funding bodies and other sources of finance to enable bids and applications to be made by either the Grants Adviser or others within Essex North East Girlguiding.
- Being prepared to research and keep up to date with opportunities available from both national and local funding bodies. (Including ECVYS)
- Ensuring that they are aware of any significant Individual/Unit/District/Division/County requirement for specific funding and ensure that any relevant information is shared.
- Ensure that information is shared with all relevant parties to ensure that there is as much time as possible to prepare a bid/application to apply for funding.
The Grants Adviser should:
- Be in sympathy with the aims and principles of The Guide Association
- Be a good communicator. Be a good listener. Be enthusiastic.
- Be confident. Have tact, diplomacy and flexibility. Have a sense of humour.
- Have patience and understanding.
- Have computer skills to enable them to use email and the internet to download information and if necessary distribute such information to other interested parties.
There is a requirement that the Grants Adviser attends County Guiding Development meetings held four times a year. It is envisaged that this role will involve the minimum of travelling around the County – the transfer of information to be in written form or by telephone.
Please note: No-one is expected to have all of these skills at the outset as, many of these skills and qualities will be acquired and developed throughout the appointment term.
